UMPLING COOPERATIVE CONSUMER’S STORE

The R.R. Colony is in the eastern part of Shillong city and is far from the main market. The people of this colony organized this Cooperative store to cater to the needs of the consumers.

The store was registered under the Assam Cooperative Societies Act and numbered as Shill/24 of 1962-63. The area of operation of the society is the whole of R.R. Colony.

The membership as at present is 13,390 nos. as on 31-3-2007.The store is managed by the Board of Directors consisting of not less than seven and not more than nine members elected in the General Assembly. A supervisory committee of three members elected by the General Meeting is also constituted to examine all books and records of the society.

The store has its own building having its plinth area of 4553 sq. ft. where the consumer store is functioned. It deals with all types of essential commodities, it may be mentioned that this store transacted its business annually more than 20 lakhs.
