The Cooperative Society was registered under the Meghalaya Cooperative Societies
Act on 03.09.1998 with the registered address at Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills. It
was started with ten members only. During the year 2004 this Cooperative Society
has been awarded with the NCDC National award by the Hon`ble Prime Minister of
India for its good performance It was brought under the ICDP in 2003-2004.
Before induction in ICDP this Cooperative Society has its total paid up share
capital of the society was Rs 2,61,650.00 and at present it has gone up to Rs
8,65,150.00 the membership has increased to 32nos and still continue to enroll
more members.
The Society produces bedcovers, bed sheets,
shawl, dakmanda, woolen materials etc and had been attending exhibitions held in
Shillong and Nongstoin. The society is conducting trainings to members and
nonmembers on knitting and weaving on Handlooms.
